Swimming Pool Fence Installation Macedon Ranges

A pool fence has one job above all else, which is keeping young children out of the water when no one is watching. Our pool fencing does that job and still looks good, from a modern pool fence in frameless glass to a tubular pool fence in black aluminium.

We handle swimming pool fence installation for new pools, replacement barriers and pool areas that need upgrading before their next inspection, in Gisborne, Woodend, Kyneton and the towns in between. As your local fencing team, we set every fence out around paths, garden beds and gates, so it meets the pool barrier standard without boxing in the yard.

Here's why homeowners choose us for their pool fence:

  • Quality Materials: Toughened glass, powder-coated aluminium and steel panels, with gate hinges and latches made for pool barriers.
  • Reasonable Rates: Pricing based on your actual fence length, panel style and gates, set out clearly on the quote.
  • Reliable Service: A clear start date, updates while the work is under way, and the job done on the days we've agreed.

If you want a pool fence that keeps the kids safe, passes inspection and suits your backyard, we'd be glad to help.

Glass Pool Fencing Macedon Ranges

Glass Pool Fencing

A glass fence keeps the water in view from the house and the yard. Semi frameless glass pool fencing sets each glass panel fence between slim posts, while Frameless Glass Pool Fencing stands on spigots or a hidden channel for a modern glass pool fence with almost nothing in the way. A frameless pool fence finishes with a matching glass pool gate.

Aluminium Pool Fencing Macedon Ranges

Aluminium Pool Fencing

Aluminium pool fencing is a popular metal pool fence for its price and low upkeep. A black pool fence or white pool fence in flat top pool fencing suits most yards, while a blade pool fence gives a more modern look. The powder-coated finish won't rust around the water.

Steel Rod Pool Fencing Macedon Ranges

Steel Rod Pool Fencing

Steel Rod Pool Fencing uses slim, closely spaced rods for a light, open look around the water. Some designs run without a top rail and others finish each rod with a gentle bend, which is why it's also known as curved pool fencing. A powder-coated steel pool fence is strong enough for busy family yards.

Pool Gates Macedon Ranges

Pool Gates

Every pool gate is self closing and self latching and swings outward, away from the water. We fit a glass pool fence gate with pool-rated hinges and latch, or an aluminium pool fence gate to match the rest of the barrier, so the gate shuts and locks behind you every time.

Keep children safe with a compliant pool fence in the Macedon Ranges

A pool fence with one small gap can fail its inspection and leave children at risk.

A gap under the fence, a rail that works as a foothold or a gate that doesn't close on its own are common reasons a barrier fails its compliance certificate. Fixing them after the pool is filled costs time and money, and the yard isn't safe until it's done. We build every barrier to the pool barrier standard from the first post.

6 Benefits of a New Pool Fence

  • Kids Kept Safe

A compliant barrier with a self-closing gate keeps young children away from the water when no one is watching, which is the peace of mind every pool owner wants.

  • Ready for Inspection

A barrier built to the standard is ready for its compliance certificate, without last-minute fixes or a second visit from the inspector.

  • A Better Looking Backyard

Glass, slim aluminium or steel rods frame the pool instead of hiding it, so the pool area becomes the part of the yard you show off.

  • A Clear View of the Water

Glass and slim aluminium or steel rods let you see the whole pool from the house and the yard, so keeping an eye on swimmers is easy.

  • Pets and Visitors Kept Out

The same barrier that protects children keeps dogs out of the pool and stops visiting kids from wandering in unsupervised.

  • Low Upkeep

Toughened glass wipes clean and powder-coated metal won't rust or need painting, so more weekends go to swimming than maintenance.

4 Steps to Your New Pool Fence

  1. 1

    Free Measure & Quote

Get in touch by phone or through the quote form, and we'll book a time to visit. We measure around the pool, check gate positions and anything that could be climbed, and help you choose a style before giving you a free written quote.

  2. 2

    Site Preparation

Any old barrier is removed and the fence line is set out around paths, garden beds and the pool edge. Post positions are marked so the gaps and heights stay within the rules all the way around.

  3. 3

    Installation

Posts or spigots are fixed and the panels go in level between them. The gate is hung to swing away from the pool, and its hinges and latch are adjusted so it closes and locks on its own.

  4. 4

    Your Finished Fence

We check every gap, height and gate against the barrier standard, clear the site and walk you through the fence. Your pool is then ready for its compliance inspection.

Macedon Ranges Pool Fencing FAQs

How much does a pool fence cost?

As a rough guide, pool fence cost in Victoria currently runs from around $105 to $370 per metre for aluminium, supplied and installed, and from around $315 to $840 per metre for semi-frameless or frameless glass. Gates are priced on top, since the self-closing hinges and latch are a big part of the cost. Treat these as a starting point for budgeting rather than a price.

Length, height, the number of gates, the ground around the pool and whether an old barrier needs removing all move the price. Glass also depends on whether it's fixed into concrete, pavers or a deck.

What are the pool fence rules in Victoria?

Pool and spa barriers in Victoria must comply with the Australian Standard AS 1926.1-2012. The fence must be at least 1.2 metres high all the way around, with gaps between bars and under the fence no wider than 100 millimetres. A 900 millimetre zone on the outside has to be kept clear of anything a child could climb, including rails, pots, garden furniture and plants.

Gates must swing outward, away from the pool, and close and latch on their own. A new pool barrier also needs a building permit, which is one of several fencing regulations in the Macedon Ranges worth knowing before you build.

If you'd like your layout checked before you commit, get in touch and we'll talk it through.

Can a boundary fence be part of the pool barrier?

Yes, a side or back boundary fence can form part of the pool barrier, but it has to meet the barrier rules too. A boundary fence used this way needs to be at least 1.8 metres high, and the 900 millimetre non-climbable zone is measured on the pool side, so rails and other footholds need to face your neighbour's yard.

Many older paling fences have their rails on the wrong side or have gaps at the bottom. In that case the fence may need extra palings, a plinth or a new section of timber fencing to pass.

Because it's a shared fence, talk to your neighbour early about any changes. If you'd like us to check your boundary fence, call us on (03) 9605 3505.

Glass or aluminium pool fencing, which is better?

Glass gives the clearest view of the pool and suits modern homes and outdoor living areas, but it costs more and needs regular cleaning to keep it looking its best. Aluminium costs less, needs very little upkeep and comes in a range of colours and styles, from tubular to blade.

Many homeowners mix the two, with glass where the pool is seen from the house and aluminium fencing along the sides and back, where the view matters less.

To talk through which suits your pool, reach out to our team.

How often does a pool fence need to be inspected?

In Victoria, every pool and spa must be registered with the local council, and the owner then lodges a certificate of barrier compliance from a pool barrier inspector. A new certificate is needed every four years, so the barrier has to keep meeting the standard long after it's built.

Between inspections, check that the gate still closes and latches on its own from any position, and keep the area outside the fence clear of anything climbable. Plants grow, furniture moves and hinges wear, and those are the things inspectors find most often.

If your barrier is due for its next certificate and needs work, call us on (03) 9605 3505.
